Getting here
By air: Natal’s airport is Governador Aluízio Alves, in São Gonçalo do Amarante. From there to Ponta Negra it is about 35 km (estimates range from 31 to 40 km) and the drive usually takes 40 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the route and traffic. Check the route on Google Maps or Waze before you set off.
By car: the house has a garage for 2 small, low cars. The access street is cobbled and quite steep.
On arrival: check-in is flexible. Let us know your time and the host sends the instructions for the electronic lock.
The beach and the boardwalk
Ponta Negra is Natal’s most famous beach. The boardwalk along Avenida Erivan França is good for walking, cycling and watching the sunset, and is lined with bars and restaurants. From the house the beach is about 200 m away, roughly 3 minutes on foot.
The tide changes the beach: at high tide the strip of sand near Morro do Careca gets very narrow. On that side the water is usually calmer, good for children and stand-up paddle.
On the seafront, local food is a sure thing on the menus: sun-dried beef with cassava, shrimp and fish baked on a tile.

The dune that is Natal’s postcard can be seen from the house’s terrace and balconies.
Climbing the dune is not allowed. The ban comes from a 1997 court decision, to stop erosion from advancing, and the area is protected for the environment. Enjoy it from below or, even better, from the terrace.
